Gallery walls are everywhere. This is no surprise since they are an easy way to fill up a blank wall and you can find inexpensive frames at your local home or grocery store. Gallery walls can be fairly easy to put together but I think the hardest part is deciding what to put in the frames.

My daughter's old gallery wall received a little makeover by adding a few new frames. My goal was not to spend very much money and try to use items around the house. This is not a new goal, since I am always on the hunt for free and inexpensive ways to fill frames. Today, I am sharing 10 great budget-friendly ideas to fill frames in a gallery wall.

1. Paint Samples

Cut them up and create a unique piece of colorful art. The possibilities are endless and, of course, FREE.

2. Local Craft Store

Chances are, your craft store (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joann Fabric, etc) has a big selection of framed artwork and is on sale or you can use a discount coupons found online.

3. Wooden Embellishments

Craft stores sell a variety of wooden embellishments that are unfinished or pre-painted. Display one embellishment or create a pattern with different embellishments. TIP: packs of embellishments are often found in the clearance section!

4. Washi Tape

Tape comes in a variety of colors and patterns and is very inexpensive. Create a fun pattern on a paper to frame.

5. Kid's Artwork

By far the easiest and cheapest item to fill a gallery wall. Plus, your kids will love to be involved!

6. Posters

Posters are a wonderful way to fill up a large section of a wall. You can buy brand new posters at your local home/grocery store for under $10. You can also buy vintage maps and educational posters on Ebay or Etsy by searching "vintage (or educational) children's poster" for less than $10.

7. Etsy Shops

Etsy is one of my favorite places to shop online. There are so many talented people in this world and Etsy has gathered many of them together to provide wonderful handmade items. My personal favorite shop is Ritzy Reba

8. Memory Game Pieces

Game pieces are a fun and unexpected item to frame. I especially love memory pieces because taking one match out won't hurt the game and it will be free!

9. Greeting Cards

A birthday card is something we all have in our house at one point or another and the fronts can be really beautiful and meaningful to frame. This can be free or you can pick out and buy a new one for as little as a $1.

10. Scrapbook Paper

Easy peasy and super cheap. Crafts stores have endless options to choose from for as little as 10 cents a piece. Can't go wrong with that!
