This lacing activity is a wonderful fine motor activity for your toddler. My son has done several lace-up activities in his occupational therapy, and we decided to try some at home. Instead of buying a set, use my free printable to make your own!
Making your own at home is super easy! Just print out my free printables in any or all shapes you want to try.
You will need:
- A printer and ink
- Card stock paper
- Yarn or string
- Tape (only if taping the ends of yarn)
- Whole punch (single whole punch will work best)
The how to:
Using a slightly thicker paper, like card stock, will help prevent tears when lacing. Print out the free printable (link below) then cut out the printed shape and use a single whole punch to make the wholes. For your string you can use an old shoe string or a piece of yarn. If you are using yarn, place a small amount of tape on the end to prevent fraying. I used an old shoe string and it worked perfectly.
Now let your child use the string and lace up the shapes!
