A fun handmade card for Mother's Day or Father's Day from the kids!
Happy almost Mother's Day! Do you have special plans for the day? Lucky me- it also happens to be my 7 year anniversary so I have lots to celebrate this Sunday! So grateful for my babies and all the hardworking mommas in this world. Just being a mom is hard work so give yourself a big pat on the back. I call my mom all the time to let her know how appreciative I am for her time, unconditional love and knowledge.
In honor of Mother's Day, the boys and I were trying to think of a special handmade gift for the grandmothers. Chase and I decided to create cards from his hand print. So Grandmom and Bi-Yo - please ignore this post until after your celebration - it is still in the mail... haha.
Here is how to craft your special holiday card from the kids:
Supplies:
- Craft Paper
- Scissors
- Glue Gun
- Pencil
- Tiny hands
- Sharpie Pen or Marker
Instructions:
- Have kids pick out what paper they like for their hands.
- Trace, or have your child trace both of their hands.
- Cut out hands, or have them cut out their own traced hand prints.
- Cut out another strip of paper about 2" high x whatever the horizontal width of your paper.
- With your sharpie, write "I love you this much!" across the inside and any other special notes you want to say.
- Form written strip into a zig-zag form as shown in picture.
- With a hot glue gun, glue the ends of your strip to the inside of the hands. Now your card opens and closes!
I love my Martha Stewart glue gun from Michael's Arts and Crafts. I use it for just about everything. Especially with doing crafts with kids because they are to impatient to wait for things to dry. What do you think? I think these would be great for teacher's gifts too!
Happy Mother's Day!
