Personalized DIY Pillow Using Burlap, Stencils & Paint
This DIY pillow was so easy and fun. I was inspired by a similar pillow at a local gift shop, but the price tag at 60.00 was a little hefty for me. Because my husband and I live on Balboa Island, this personalized Balboa Island burlap DIY pillow adds a nice touch to our home. With a bit of acrylic paint and stencils, you can add a personalized design or monogram of your own. This project is inexpensive, quick and worthy of showing off.
HOW I MADE THIS BURLAP DIY PILLOW
The materials I used to make this DIY Pillow are:
- An old pillow I had laying around. The objective is to save as much money as possible right? Recycle one of your old pillows to create a new look. Another idea is to go to a local thrift store and you should be able to find a pillow for less than 5.00. Not too shabby if you ask me!
- A foam brush
- A permanent marker. I used a black permanent marker to fill in small imperfections.
- Black Acrylic Paint. There are many other options, but for this tutorial, I decided to go with Acrylic.
- Stencils. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby. (to save money on stencils, you can print the letters you need off your own home computer and trace the letters onto your pillow with a pencil)
- One Burlap Pillow Case (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for 4.99)
