So current things that are buzzing around my head:
*The 30 day challenge that I took up: Getting rid of one unnecessary item a day for 30 days. So far I’ve gotten rid of: 1 scarf, 1 purse, a few change purses, some more stuffed animals (I really wanted to save a few for our kids when we do have them but I'm becoming more choosey on which ones), a puzzle, a skirt, some CD's and a few other odds and ends. It's that little by little aspect that I think is simple and productive without being overwelming.
*The Barefoot Lifestyle: I grew up in the country and spent a majority of my time without shoes on (hell my mum had to fight to keep me in clothing period, lol) and that’s honestly the way I prefer to be. Now that isn’t possible everywhere. Living in a college town we have broken glass in a majority of the parking lots, I would not go into a restaurant or store without shoes, and I’m really not going to go up to my boss and telling them I’m not going to wear shoes to work and have them stare at me like I have a honey badger on top of my head snorting broccoli. Just not going to work out. There are ways of getting around these things by wearing minimalist shoes. No arch, wide enough so your toes can sprawl out the way nature intended us to, and no to very little change in the height of the shoe from front to back. I’ve found some ones that I could wear to work without having a second look, but at the moment I am working on downsizing my shoes and wearing out what I currently have. But I have an idea of what I want to get when the time comes.

*Grocery shopping for planned meals: This is going to be a new one for me. My husband and I have had a grocery budget for quite a while of $120 for 2 weeks, and just recently due to some budget crunches since my husband lost his job we’ve downgraded it to $70-85. Keep in mind that’s for 2 people, myself a vegetarian (usually if you are vegan/vegetarian the grocery bill goes up a bit, but I’ve found as long as I’m not eating a bunch of fake meats then it stays pretty low- which is great because they really aren’t too great for you anyway). I found some great recipes, but I have a feeling the Gouda is going to try to run off with my wallet.
*I finished my brother’s damn scarf! Sorry about that, I didn’t realize that crocheting a scarf for a giant would take this long. And I learned a valuable lesson: Always buy extra yarn! Dye lots make a huge difference, so the last 4 or so stripes on his Gryffindor/Iron Man scarf looks like they are sun bleached… and somehow the weight is a little different- I seriously sat there for 2 hours undoing the scarf to the point where I thought I dropped a stitch only to find out I didn’t. Was not a happy camper >_<
*I’m almost done with my magazine scanning project. For those who have not heard me complain about this project I have spent the last few months in hours long blocks scanning magazine articles. Why do you ask? I’m really starting to ask myself this… It started when I started collecting magazines a few years ago. And then having to move them from my parent’s to the old apt almost killed us. During the time at the old apt I went through and pulled out the articles that I wanted to keep and recycled the rest. Made for a bit easier move least to say. Then instead of my original idea last year of putting them in binders I decided to scan them to get the physically clutter gone. Now after 3 full months of scanning and who knows how long deconstructing the magazines, I’m really starting to ask myself… will I even read these once they are on there?
And to all the mothers out there, whether in mind or spirt, to however many legged children- Happy Mother's Day! I love my mummy dearly.
