I just love making things and being the mother of two little girls, my latest addiction is hair bows. We live in Kauai so the girls love all things nautical, especially mermaids. I saw the cutest jellyfish hair clip on Pinterest but could not find a tutorial. Therefore, I decided to create my own.
Aren't these jellyfish adorable? The Disney Princess hair clips are already playing with them and giving them names. Here are the instructions so you can make your own.
Materials:
scissors (sharp ones)
glue gun
alligator clip
2 small googly eyes
6 pieces 3/8" grosgrain ribbon (your choice of colors)-2", 3", 4", 5", 6", additional 6" for lining clip
4 pieces corker grosgrain ribbon (your choice of color and length)
Steps:
Take your 2" ribbon and form a loop. Use hot glue to seal it closed.
Glue the loop to the 6" ribbon, almost 2" to the right.
Take your 3" ribbon and form a new loop, sealing it closed with glue.
Glue the new loop right over the top of the first loop.
Take your 4" ribbon and glue the left side, just on the outer edge of the last loop.
Glue down the right side of your new loop.
Repeat the last step with the 4" piece of ribbon.
The body of your jellyfish should look like this.
Now, you are going to add your corker ribbons, or "tentacles." I found a great tutorial for making corker ribbon here: http://www.glorioustreats.com/2010/05/how-to-make-curly-ribbon-hair-bows.html
Glue your first corker ribbon near the middle of the jellyfish body.
Add your other three corker ribbons. Voila! Your jellyfish now has tentacles.
Put a nice long line of glue across the top of the tentacle, take the long end of your 6" ribbon, and fold it over to the left. Pull it snug and press it down to seal smoothly.
Trim the excess ribbon off the left side.
Put 2 dots of glue where you want to place the eyes. Place the eyes gently (hot glue is messy). Your jellyfish is ready to be glued to a lined alligator clip. As an avid Pinterest addict, I found a nice tutorial on how to line alligator clips here: https://www.theribbonretreat.com/Catalog/how-to-make-all-the-basics.aspx
Glue the back of your jellyfish to your lined clip. You are now finished! Enjoy!
