DIY Christmas Countdown Calendar

Christmas is only 10 days away! I really can’t believe it!

So I made this D.I.Y. Christmas countdown calendar last year and I am finally sharing it with you all today. To be honest, I haven’t even hung it up yet this year. Seems I had a lot more time on my hands last year…

Supplies you will need are:

Piece of rectangular wood to use as the base- I bought a really thin balsa wood board from Michaels
Clothes pins
small square or round wooden pieces- also from Michaels
red and green glitter
red/green/white felt or mini stockings already premade
wood glue
paintbrush
paint- I used white and silver
oil paint marker- this is what I used for the numbers, a regular permanent marker might work just as well

1. I started by painted the wood pieces and the clothes pins white. You could really paint them any color you choose! After the clothes pins were dry I painted a thin layer of glue on them and dipped them in the glitter so they were extra festive.

3. Then just glue the wooden squares to the top of the clothes pins and the clothes pins to the balsa wood base.

4. I sewed little stockings and mittens myself, but it is really easy to find mini stockings that are decorations during the holidays. You could also sew mittens from old sweaters or use other holiday themed decorations to clip to the calendar. I liked that the mittens and stockings can be stuffed with goodies! Clip them at different dates spaced out on the calendar.

5. I used the double sided sticky foam to hang our christmas countdown calendar on the wall.

6. Now it is ready to be filled up with goodies! Let the countdown to Christmas begin!

Christmas

Adam and I love stuffing it with random little gifts throughout December. The Christmas coffee is an all time favorite from Finger Lakes Roasters. Mmm the smell just reminds me of the holidays!

Do you use an advent calendar throughout December?!
