Card Table Revamp - Pinterest Project

table 1

I own several card tables; all inherited from my grandparents.  These card tables were actually used to play cards and dominos on. I’m not sure why the kitchen table or dining table wasn’t used back then but it doesn’t really matter. These card tables were also used as the “kids table” at family parties, reunions, etc. as well as to hold all the extra food for such events.

Since these card tables are as old as me (or older) they are looking a tad bit shabby. I use them all the time for all sorts of things and don’t really want to replace them. I needed some ideas on how to spiffy the tables up without spending lots of money. Pinterest to the rescue!

The solution – recover the table tops with vinyl tablecloths! Woo hoo! Simple, inexpensive and quick. I bought a large rectangle vinyl tablecloth at Wal-Mart which would cover both tables. The hardest part was getting the table tops off the frame! Those screws hadn’t been undone in ages. Once I had the tops off I spray painted the metal frame in oil rubbed bronze and let it dry outside on the deck. I laid the tablecloth right side down and cut around the top, leaving a 2-3 inch edge. Pulling the fabric up around the tabletop I stapled gunned it in place. Once done I screwed the top back into the frame and voila – a beautiful new card table times two.

The only thing I would do different is buy a thicker vinyl tablecloth or laminated fabric. The super thin cheap $5 tablecloth I bought s already starting to show wear.  Otherwise I consider this project a Pinterest win!

Have you completed a Pinterest inspired project lately that was a success?
