Where I Create: My Studio

Studio 1

My project for the weekend was to get my studio more organized. I finally hung everything on walls; it's all been sitting on the floor since we moved last June. So happy!

Studio5

I have a degree in modern art history, and I love the simplicity of the Arp print (on the wall, right) with my organized chaos. This is by far the most cluttered room in the house!

Studio6

More organized chaos. . . I keep small patterns in clear plastic sleeves in the binders (bottom center).

Studio3

The top shelf of random things. Vintage Alaskan mukluks, Native American black on black pottery, a Disney cel, Bunny Boo Boo, and some little chicks keep me company.

Studio sampler

I think my love of textiles is genetic. This sampler was done by my ancestor in 1829 and was given to me by my grandmother before she passed away.

Studio coke box

This vintage Coca Cola box has followed me through several moves. It's nice to see all the little things I've collected back in their places. My favorites are the old tin for headache tablets, and the As You Like It horseradish crock. Oddly enough, the doll arm came from the garden at one house, and the doll leg from a garden at another home 60 miles away.

Studio2

The latest addition to the studio is a small Singer sewing machine for Annabel. I don't know who was more excited to find it in the clearance bin at Marshalls, me or Annabel.

There's still a big flat file that needs to be put together. It's waiting for when I have a free five hours or so. . .  ;) But I'll take the significant progress.

Hope you had a fun weekend!

xo Karin
