So I know I've been talking about it forever, but I finished my rainbow blankie this weekend!
I'm so happy to be done with it and happy about how it turned out!As I've explained, I knit this in 11 colors of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. In rainbow order, I used Scarlet, Citrus, Gilded, Butter, Jade, Robin's Egg, Kelp, Lapis, Vermillion, and Iris, with a border in Cloak. I seamed the 4 big squares together with the Jade. I love this yarn for its shine, softness, and washability, although I did notice some tendency for the yarn to break when I was seaming. I didn't notice this at all in the knitting, but it did happen.
So, that was completely terrifying to find when I was blocking! I wanted to freak out, but instead I maintained a level head, unpicked the conveniently located correctly-colored end I'd woven in, and tried my first darning attempt. I'm happy that it was only one stitch, and I don't think you can really tell after the repair.
All in all, I'm extremely happy with how this project turned out. I think the colors worked well together, the border ties it all in really nicely, and it blocked out to a nice even size.
I hope the recipients agree, because I'm going to be sad to let it go!
