Last year at BlogHer'12, I found myself overwhelmed by the coupon, mommy, brand ambasador, style, and fitness bloggers. What in the world was I, a home decor and trend blogger, doing at this conference? Where did I fit in?!
It took the Expo Hall in New York City for me to realize that I had a place in this bloging world. With vendors such as Kohler and Energizer Candles, I realized that not everyone wanted just nother review, but wanted to work with bloggers who have carved out an inspired and somewhat crafty piece of the blogosphere.
This year was so much different, and I have learned why BlogHer is so important for us in the DIY niche. I went to Chicago with a clear set of goals; I only wanted to connect with brands that fit with my blog and my voice, I wanted to show what my niche has to offer the rest of the blogging community and I wanted to throw the best darn DIY party that BlogHer had ever seen.
Happily, I achieved all of those goals. We spoke with a realy strong voice at BlogHer this year, us DIY bloggers. We engaged in the FlyDIY party and had a blast with over 300 of our craftiest friends over DIY Martinis and left feeling inspired.
The next day, we saw bloggers from the party who were smiling, holding their handmade business card holders, appreciating the world of DIY and thanking us for such an awesome event. The response that we are still getting from everyone is incredible, and we are so thankful that DIY bloggers are finally getting noticed on the big stage.
So what can you gain as a DIY blogger at BlogHer? In terms of sessions, you will learn how to tell an amazing story, edit your photos so that your work shines as it should, and make the most of your social media channels. DIY bloggers are so visual in their posts, so the content rich sessions will elevate where you are with your blog and take it all to the next level.
However, more valuable than company contacts you will make and amazing sessions you will attend, is the confidence that you will gain from meeting others in your tribe, face to face. You will find your voice and the inspiration to keep blogging about your crafty self.
See you at BlogHer'14!
