DIY Dining Room Curtains

This particular project is not new - I just haven't documented it here yet. (Summer's fault).

Our dining room curtains in all their glory!

I cannot tell you how much I am in love with how these curtains turned out. I had been dreaming about them for months and finally convinced B to let me break out my new sewing machine and get sewing.

*Note - I received this "sewing machine" for my birthday last year. This was the first time I had used it - and on the machine it states "Simple Singer"<---- see the word SIMPLE? Yea - if only. I have clearly failed as a DIY blogger. It took me 2 weeks to figure the damn sewing machine out!If anyone wants to explain a bobbin to me I would be forever grateful. Also shout out to my Mom for doing most (all) of the hard sewing.

What I had planned was to use these shower curtains I had fallen in love with from West Elm and add a fabric to the bottom of the curtains to make them floor length. I wanted the curtains to hang from the ceiling (directly under the crown molding) to the floor. So after the curtains came in we went off to Jo-Ann's in search of a "burlap" looking fabric. We ended up choosing a tan rough fabric that I fell in love with. It was not "burlap" like I originally wanted, but it was much easier to work with and added a softness to the curtains which I really liked.

After sewing the fabric to the bottom of the curtains we hung them up using shower curtain rings to two 9 foot piece of conduit pipe. We needed a rod that spanned the length of our room (since we were using 3 panels). I loved this pipe and "industrial" end pieces to give the room an added modern and industrial touch. All of those items can be found at Lowe's.

*Note - we re-enforced the pipe in the middle with 4 screws locking the pipe in place (2 on top and 2 on bottom). It helped with the pipe sagging in the middle.

We could not be happier with how they turned out. These curtains instantly gave the house a warm feeling. We recieve so many compliments on them, and nothing screams victory for us more then unprovoked compliments from our friends; who are no longer easily impressed with our home renovations.

Win.
