It's been a busy week or so at my house, but I don't have much to show for it in the way of pictures. I spent the early part of the week in Nashville for work. I had terrible flights there and back (so happy that I'm almost grounded), but a lot of fun while I was there. I went to a Nashville Sounds game and it was one of the more one-sided contests I've seen -- the other guys won 20-2, nearly the Sounds' biggest loss ever. It was still a lot of fun, though! We were in a box and the mascot came up to greet us, which was pretty cool, and probably would have been even better if we weren't all adult business associates. Last night my sister arrived for a weekend visit, so I'm expecting a few more busy and fun days.
An exciting result of the travel is that I've made a lot of invisible progress on Irish Moss. I've finished almost another 15 percent of the sweater since my update 3 weeks ago (about 3 pattern repeats). If I keep up the pace, I should finish the sweater in October. I really hope that happens! I've been taking it slow to protect my hands, since I wasn't able to knit for months last year after I tried to do too much on this sweater too quickly.
Unfortunately, a few repeats of a sweater body aren't all that interesting to look at, so I didn't take any pictures. Rest assured, it looks like a sweater. I've also noticed some errors, some of which I'm turning into design features and others of which I'm hoping no one else ever sees. It is a bit tricky to pick a pattern back up after several months off, and I've realized that there were a few mistakes that I was making before that I stopped making when I restarted and went back to the pattern. I'm so happy that I've reworked the sweater to knit in the round so that at least my fronts and backs will match, even if there are some tiny inconsistencies between the very top and most of the rest of the sweater.
I'm counting down the days to next week, though, when I get to start a new project on the 1st. I think it will be the Cockle Shell beanie in my beloved Malabrigo Silky Merino in Atardecer.
I'm kind of excited that I have a hat from the same yarn, so apparently I'm going to be one of those moms.
I'm also considering making baby a Christmas stocking. The current contenders are a colorwork sampler based on Spindleknitter's Stockings, the Snow Bird Stocking, or the Dalahast Stocking. I love the horses, but the others are probably more likely because this girl is not an embroiderer. For proof, see my attempt to embroider the face onto a lamb stuffie I made for a lovely little girl. Truly, the stuff of nightmares.
I hope I've included enough new-to-you photos to make up for the lack of new-to-me ones, and I can't wait to have some meaningful progress to show you on Irish Moss!
