Washi Tape Photo Frame

So I have just recently come to discover washi tape, and I'm in love! Seriously, how have I not found this stuff ages ago?! It is like the easiest way to jazz up all sorts of things. I have a few different projects in mind already I can't wait to build up an awesome supply. I bought three different ones to play with at Michaels on the weekend and I have about 8 more coming in from Cute Tape. I found them through google and they seem to have the cutest patterns, at least I think. The prices and shipping is fairly resonable as well. If you are in the states your shipping is cheaper than it is for me and if you order a whole bunch at once you can recieve discounted, or free shipping. Well let me show you what I used to make my adorable photo frame, and the finished project. I intend to use this frame for some family photos of us but I don't have the photos printed yet and I was just too excited about my first project to wait posting until I get the photos.

This is the original frame that I picked up from the dollar store for $3. It's a cheap frame, but after I work my crafty magic on it, it will be transformed. You will see!

I picked up something I could use to get a nice sharp cut on the tape with, a precision blade. I also got a sponge and some Mod Podge to seal the tape down and give it a bit of a satin finish. Then of course I needed the tape itself, so I chose to use these two on this black frame.

This is how my finished product turned out, it took me around about an hour because I was going slowly and carefully being my first project. I think after I have done a few I will probably get a bit faster. Overall it was a very simple craft to do but it will make such an excellent gift because I took the time to make it a little personal for the gift receiver, and I intend to put some adorable photos of my baby inside it :)

Here is a close up of the frame. I didn't do an absolutely exact job, I never measured the distances between each tape so I just eye balled it. Even though it isn't perfect I think it turned out pretty fantastic and I can't wait to do a ton more projects to share with you!
