My mom made these cute ornaments with my boys last year. She got the idea from a Lowe’s publication. They are easy to make; it just takes several steps and time for drying.
What you need:
- 1 plain wooden light switch cover per child
- Craft paint (your choice of color…we used green and red)
- Paint brushes
- Glitter
- Glue
- Cardboard
- Scissors or craft knife
- One picture of each child, sized to fit in opening
- Tape
- Thin ribbon or string
What to do:
1. First, take your cardboard and size it to the back opening. Use scissors or a craft knife for this. Make sure it fits snug.
2. Next, paint the front of the light switch cover and allow to dry. Do not paint the back yet.
3. On the front, paint on some glue in the areas that you want glitter. It can be a design or just all over. Immediately sprinkle on the glitter and allow to dry.
4. Next, place your photo in the opening and tape it down. Cover the photo with the cardboard backing. If the backing isn’t secure, tape it down as well.
5. Paint the entire backside of the light switch over. Allow to dry.
6. When it is dry, tie a ribbon through the top hole and hang on your Christmas tree.
Merry Christmas!
