Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
I came across this product when I was looking for ideas for giving old furniture a makeover. Since this discovery I've gone nuts using it on anything that needs to be repurposed. One product I have in large quantities is old bottles of lemonade. I buy Lorina Lemonade a lot because it's fancy dancy sparkling lemonade in a cool bottle that is nice to serve to guests who don't drink or to my children on fun occasions. And yes we do serve it in champagne flutes.
Anyway, these are not bottles you want to throw away. So I soak them in hot water overnight and the label comes right off. In the past I put water in them and used them when we had guests for dinner. It's so much nicer to see several pretty bottles of water instead of some big heavy pitcher. I've also given tons away. Then I started putting our milk and orange juice in them because it looked prettier and more organized in the fridge.
Then enter Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I've used this on a variety of home decor projects and will share more on that later. This product is so fun to use and very easy to apply. I've also used the standard black chalkboard paint for a project for our bar cart at Cair Paravel.
Here's the Chalk Paint on the picture frame with a coat of dark wax on top to create a more distressed look and the black chalkboard paint on the glass to create a menu board.
Here's the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project on the empty lemonade bottles.
The paint drys quickly and it only requires one coat. You can use chalk on this and it wipes off easily. The paint comes in a variety of shades, but it used more for painting furniture to give it an aged/patina/distressed/vintage look.
I'm doing my dining room chairs for the farmhouse in this Louis Blue. I have one chair left to strip and paint then cover all the seats before the big reveal.
Again, one project at a time. ;)
Take care now,
Carol
