When I think of December, I always think of Christmas. I have warm and fuzzy childhood memories of late nights, popcorn balls, church, and snow. I hope one day my children will look back on December and be flooded with memories of family, tradition, warmth, and bliss. The beginning of December marks the time for us to put away our school books, step away from extracurricular activities, and celebrate the season. Our days get lazy and slow.

Martin
Martin, our "Elf on the Shelf", comes to help us count down the last ten days before Christmas. On this day, Martin came bearing gifts and announcing it was Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve this year was spent crafting. The kids made a snowman candy dish for each grandmother.

Every year, we make gingerbread houses. In the past, I would buy a kit. And even though we used the exact cookie pieces as the instructions, our houses never even remotely resembled the houses on the box. Well, this year I found a DIY tutorial online. We used graham crackers, icing, and an assortment of hard candy. The directions said to place all of the candy in individual bowls. See how good we are at following directions. I'll let you guess at how they turned out.

This was the best one.

Ha! And this is what happens when too much candy is added. Sooo....we didn't come even close to building a gingerbread house that actually resembles a gingerbread house, but it was loads of fun anyway. What are some of your holiday traditions?
