So, as I mentioned, pretty much right after I caught the hexapox, I developed mini mania. It started off innocently enough. I saw a couple of cute little skeins of yarn in colors I really liked at the LYS and I thought I'd pick them up. They weren't too expensive, and look how cute!
That was my first step onto the slippery slope.Next came an etsy order. Eighteen minis, perfectly sized for puffs. Not too expensive. Lots of indie yarn brands I'd always wanted to try. Why not, right?And from there, it was an even shorter step to swapping. Let me get this straight -- I just need to buy one skein of yarn and then all of these nice people will let me trade them for little bits of lots of yarn? Awesome! I have a skein of yarn! Oh wait, I don't even need to buy a skein? I can just paypal some money and get all of these little bits in all of these great colors? Even better!Suddenly I had Wollmeise in 74 colors. The numbers weren't much better for Dream in Color or madelinetosh.
And then there were special little sets!
I bought 4 of these Koigu sets. And Beth's Big Bag O'Fun from Lorna's Laces (24 more minis). There was an entire container under my bed stuffed with minis.Yikes.I'm happy to say that my mini mania is in remission now, though. When I realized that I was spending more time splitting yarn into tiny mini-skeins than knitting, I got over it. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I've had other big projects to focus on, so let's not remind me of this when I'm back to puffing away and itching for some new pretties, please?The other thing that has quelled my urge to splurge? I've moved onto the next phase of the hexapox -- dyeing.
