Hi all! I'm Kirstin. I'm a knitter, crocheter, dyer, and sometimes spinner living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with my cat and my husband (not necessarily in order of importance). I thought it would be fun to chat with the world at large about my projects, my designs, stuff I'm reading, stuff I'm watching, and maybe even places I'm going and things I'm doing. I hope it's fun, but send me some comments if you have ideas on how I can make it more so.
I thought I'd start things off by showing one of my pretties in progress, a sweater I'm making for my dad.
This is Irish Moss, from Alice Starmore's Aran Knitting (revised). I'm making it in Brooklyn Tweed SHELTER in Soot. I changed the construction method quite a bit -- instead of working in pieces from the bottom up, I'm making the sweater top-down in-the-round, using the method from Janet Szabo's Follow the Leader Aran Knitalong (FLAK).
My dad requested a sweater after we took a trip to Ireland with my mom and then-boyfriend (now aforementioned husband) in 2010. Many hijinks ensued, but Dad wasn't able to buy one of the "family Arans" he wanted because our complexions were not made for the pale white wool (too matchy with my skin). Mom and Dad bought me the awesome Aran Knitting book for the next Christmas and I took on this mission. I've been working on it (in fits and starts) since August, so you can expect to see more.
