The Beginning

I'm giving this blogging thing a try, after reading dozens of quilting blogs in the last few weeks.  I think it will give me a chance to keep a record of what I'm working on, and may help me grow as a quilter.

Some information about me- my name is Erin, I'm a pharmacist by day and a quilter in my spare time.  I live with a lab mix Apollo, who likes to eat any food left out, as well as chew spools of thread. I live in the Shenandoah Valley, but I grew up in Pittsburgh. In addition to quilting, I like to scrapbook, but haven't recently.  I also love to take pictures.  I currently have about 13,000, since early 2007.  I probably lost about 500 in my hard drive crash last year, but thank goodness for facebook- I can pull some of the pictures I lost.

I'm also active on twitter- you can find me under the name eeb31.  I do tweets on crafting and on pharmacy, so be prepared not to understand everything I say

Apollo

I've been quilting for about a year now.  I started with a quilt for my queen sized bed.  Things I've learned from it - quilting a queen sized quilt on a Babylock Grace is really hard, even if you're just stiching in the ditch.  I also learned I am terrible at making square pieces. Nexflix is, I found, one of the best things for me.  I will start a show and just stream it from my computer while I'm working on a project.  It feels like less of a time waste that way.

I currently have 7 projects going on-  a wedding ring quilt my great-grandmother started, a log cabin quilt for my parents, a "Falling blocks" pattern that is fighting me on the quilting, a "Jewels in the Curio" quilt using winter fabric, a race, or 1600, quilt that I'm tracing a quilting pattern on the top, a "Underground Railroad" quilt BOM at my local shop (We're in month 2), and my latest purchase, a "Wee Wander" quilt wall hanging, whose fabric I purchased yesterday and cut out today.

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment currently.  I've set up the second room to be my quilting room.  When my dad came down to visit in March, he built me a quilting/scrapbooking table, with storage underneath.  I thought up the design, but he built it.

If anyone reads this, remind me later to do a post on my table and my ironing board that I made.  I cannot find the picture I know I have.  I know I have it because A) I have seen it and B) I can even tell you what I'm wearing in the picture, which means I definitely have it.

See you later,

Erin
