This DIY chalk board was so easy to create! I work for a kitchen remodeling company called Mr. Cabinet Care. They custom-make their cabinetry and sometimes, they are forced to throw away items that are not measured correctly. This makes me sad, and instead of watching cabinet doors be hauled off to the dump, I choose to rescue them!
So instead of becoming a wood craftsman and learning how to build a framed wood piece, I suggest getting a little bit dirty and dumpster diving in a neighbor's trash. In addition to being a fun experience, I like to think that it helps with recycling and keeping this earth a greener place.
To perfect this piece you'll need:
- Martha Stewart Blue Chalkboard paint
- Paint Brush
- Time
Simply paint the inner frame blue and wait 2 hours to dry in between coats. I applied 3 coats to make sure it was coated evenly. And voila! You've got a beautiful chalkboard ready to capture all your daily musings.
