Ready, get set, GO! It’s that time again. What are you waiting for? Are you one of those last minute shoppers, motivated by the adrenaline rush of bouncing from store to store to pull together something that makes sense for a haunted night of ghost and goblins? Many people plan well ahead of the discounted candy and costumes that are left on Oct 31st. However, just as many wait on the sale of these seasonal items so that they can get the best deals on their one night quest. While either approach is a good idea, the sacrifice you make is giving up those popular costumes that are sure to sell out before they are actually discounted.
One of the most popular costumes in the kid arena for this year was the highly rated, well-deserved chart topping, How to Train Your Dragon II. Rated by one rotten tomato as “The most emotionally satisfying boy-meets-creature movie since E.T. - and that's not a comparison made lightly.” If you caught the movie this year, you would likely agree that Toothless and Hiccup rightfully claimed their ranks as one of this year’s most sought after costumes. With that being said, if you waited on a discount to purchase, you probably missed out on your child’s favorite DreamWorks Viking and dragon.
I was able to get my hands on one of the last Toothless costumes for my toddler and it was no easy feat. I visited five stores and all online costume/Halloween outlets until I found one at Amazon.com. Waiting cost me a hike in the price because of the demand as well as a shipping fee and upgrade to ensure its timely delivery. By the time it was all over, I paid about $30.00 more than it would have originally cost me, just to make it all happen. This is something to consider as you wait for discounts next year. When shopping for the regular (spider-man, bat-man) you can wait, as these are a sure find every year.
