Last weekend, during our mountain roadtrip, we stopped in a quaint little country decor shop. While perusing the lovely items filling the store, I spotted these adorable little pumpkins.
Upon a closer inspection, I realized the pumpkins were made of applesauce/cinnamon dough. Having been a kindergarten teacher for 10 years, I have made my fair share of applesauce/cinnamon Christmas ornaments & easily recognize applesauce/cinnamon dough creations.
The price for these little spicy beauties was truly a shocker — the pumpkins were 5 bucks each!!! OMGeeeeeeee!!!!!
Again, having made literally hundreds of applesauce/cinnamon ornaments & knowing how inexpensive they are to make, $5.00 per pumpkin–in my opinion–is crazy expensive.
When I got home from our weekend roadtrip, I decided to make a batch of my own spicy pumpkins. Almost everything needed for this project can be purchased at the Dollar Tree, & for approximately $5.00 (the price of ONE pumpkin at that shop), you can make over a dozen pumpkins (depending on the size you prefer).
If you’ve made applesauce/cinnamon ornaments before, you know how simple they are to make. If you’ve never made them before, they’re super simple, AND, one of the huge perks of this project, they make your house smell AAAAHHHHHMMMMMAZING. Also, this is a very kid-friendly project!
So, let’s roll up our sleeves & get to making pumpkins:
