You may remember this picture from early October:
I’m thrilled to report that these funny looking, newspaper-covered balloons are now PUMPKINS! Cue Hallelujah Chorus:
I really should have videoed our adventures in paper macheing–no doubt the footage would have easily made it to a funniest home videos show or Youtube bloopers channel. It has truly been an experience, to say the least.
I have quite a bit of experience with paper mache (thanks to my years of teaching kindergarten); however, my mom had never worked with paper mache. This project was truly a learning experience–for both of us! Haha!
My mom enjoys quick, one day DIY projects; she’s not so much into projects that take several days to complete. This leads me to my #1 paper mache tip: paper mache projects aren’t finished in 1 day. This paper mache project takes between 3-5 days to finish (depending on the time you put into the project each day — this will make more sense after you read the following how-to steps).
I made two types of paper mache pumpkns; a ballon pumpkin & a trash bag pumpkin. I’ll explain how to do each type below. So, let’s get to making some paper mache pumpkins…
