Does anyone else feel like the Christmas season goes by like a DVD on fast forward? I feel like I haven't taken a breath that wasn't in anticipation of the next thing in at least a month. Even my day of rest every week is over-shadowed by stuff I want to do, even if it's not work looming overhead. My creative brain is working overtime, and I cannot stop my hands for even a moment, lest I fall behind. I don't think I would have it any other way, though.
I promised my 12 Days of Christmas Crafts posts...and I will get them done. I will. Somehow, between making stockings, building Lego trays, and cooking up hearty soups for my sick kids, I will blog. The first project I tackled was these sweet ornaments for the tree. Maybe it's a little weird, a tree on a tree, but I thought they looked super cute and I knew they would be easy. Here is the link to the site I found them on.
First, we sorted through my massive pile of ribbon. This was the perfect job for my little princess who is getting really good at identifying colors. She pulled out all the green and white ribbons for us to choose from.
Then Turbo went out to the front yard and picked out some good sticks for our ornaments. The kids were so excited to make Christmas ornaments; this is the first year we have planned to have a tree in 7 years. We also put out our yard decorations on Thanksgiving day before we had even eaten dinner. That's how we roll over here. Anyway, sticks and ribbon. It doesn't get easier that that. We tied lots of ribbons on and then I hot glued a loop on the top so it can hang on the tree. I think the whole deal took us 30 minutes or less.
The one on the left was made by my little princess, kind of. She picked the ribbons and I tied them on. The one on the right was made by Turbo. He even used the glue gun. He was super proud of himself. I'd say the Pinterest image is way cuter than ours came out, but I love that my kids made them. They are ours, and I love ornaments like that. Homemade is the best.
Stay tuned for more posts in my 12 Crafting Days of Christmas series. It's been a crazy couple of weeks, and we are crafting up a storm over here! It's been loads of fun. There are so many more projects to come.
