DIY Sugar Hand Scrub

I have no crafty bones in my body, like none ... so you can imagine the surprise to even myself when it popped into my head that I wanted to actually make my mom something to go with her Christmas presents. So off I went to stalk Pinterest in hopes of finding something relatively easy and quick but after scrolling through about 3 pages I gave up. That was until my co-worker told me she was making homemade hand scrub to go with her gifts that only required two ingredients!! I was sold. After work I marched (ok drove) my way to Michael's Craft Store and Walmart to get the few ingredients and supplies I needed to complete this cute little DIY.

To make this scrub you will need two simple ingredients:

- Sunlight Hand Replenish Dish Soap
- Pure cane sugar
... Both of these products can be purchased at your local Walmart for under $2-3 each. Dawn Hand Renewal will also work but my Walmart didn't have any in stock.

***Optional***
Mason jars or small glass containers to store the finished product in as well as bows, ribbons and name tags for decoration.

You're going to want to dump about 2/3 of your container full of sugar; next, add the Sunlight dish soap in slowly. You can add small amounts of soap and mix the two ingredients slowly, adding more soap until you get the right texture. When you're done, approximately 1/3 of the final product should be Sunlight. Don't get too nervous about quantity because you can't really mess this up. If you use a little too much sugar the scrub will be grainer on your hands and if you use a little too much soap it will be silkier; both cases will leave you with a great result.

The Sunlight is perfect for this scrub because not only is it marketed towards helping to achieve smoother silkier hands, the amazing scent and light shade of pink help make the finished product that much better. I opted to mix everything together with a butter knife rather than a popsicle stick because I found I was able to get a better grip on it and stir the mixture into a perfect consistency.

P.S - I just wanted to share with you the absolute worst chalkboard stickers ever. I picked this pack up at Michael's for around $5 thinking it would be cute to put on the jars of each sugar scrub, yea no. The chalk would not write on them at all and as soon as I was able to get the sticker off (which took forever) it immediately bubbled over. Don't waste your money like I did!
