This is a project I did on the whim yesterday, which I think are honestly the best kinds. I had kept all my supplies out from when I made the tags, and I was thinking of ways to make some cute Easter cards. I like my cards to look polished, so I don't like to do a lot of free hand cutting or writing. I looked to my craft punches to make a duck, and it was easier than I imagined.
You'll need:
- Martha Stewart paper trimmer
- Orange (two shades) and yellow card stock
- Martha Stewart circle punch
- Recollections mini heart punch
- Elmer's Xtreme glue stick
- Pair of googly eyes
- Adhesive foam dot
I started off by trimming the card to size using a sheet of the lighter orange card stock. You can make any size card you want, but I trimmed mine to fit a 13 x 9 1/4 cm envelope (which you can buy in bulk from DeSerres). I also trimmed a sheet of yellow card stock to fit inside the card, which gives it a more neutral and easier-to-read backdrop for the message. I adhered it with the glue stick (see last photo).
Using the punches, I punched out two yellow circles, and three orange and one yellow heart. I glued the "beak" first, which is one of the orange hearts, to one of the yellow circles. Then I glued the googly eyes, and that completed the duck's head. To assemble the duck, I glued the feet down first onto the card, which are two upside down orange hearts. I glued a yellow circle over top. Then I glued the wing (the yellow heart). To make the head pop, I used an adhesive foam dot and all it does it give the card a three dimensional effect. I dabbed a bit of white glue to the foam dot first, to give it extra bondage. I did the same before I adhered the duck's head. After that, the card was all finished!
All of the materials and tools used to make this project were originally purchased at Michaels. Luckily, I had to only go as far as my craft supply storage for this card, so for me to make this card yesterday, it was free!
What do you think of my duck card? I think it's super adorable!
Note: I was not compensated for this post.
Do you like making cards for Easter?
