Saturday was a bit of a decorating and crafting day, we booked a last minute flight for Kent to fly to Winnipeg so I was on my own. Kent's boys were driving to Winnipeg to see Gaslight Anthem so we thought we would surprise them, cost me double points but it was so worth it for him to see his boys and surprise them, plus Kent's mom and two brothers are there so a perfect time to catch up with family. For me it meant a weekend to craft.. oh yea and go to Target for clearance/liquidation sales.
Some time ago I pinned the Scrabble tile Coasters, thought about them a lot but was never able to find square tiles to use ( duh... did not dawn on me to just buy a scarbble game, i thought I should actually make my own) Well Target is going out of business and toys are at 50% off, so I found a scrabble game so my coasters were about to become reality.
Four letter words related to wine and/or drinking, thinking up the words was easy enogh, what I spent hours on was rearranging the words and letters to try and make words horizontal and vertical.. Not possibly folks, trust me I tried. To funny the coasters took a lot less time to make then trying to rearrange the words and letters/
I finally decided on: 1)Vino, Wine, Cask and Aged , 2) Pint, beer, Hops, Brew 3) Salt, Lime, Ided and Stir and 4) Dine, Eat, Meal and food. If you ever get an urge to create there are lost more words still to be used: Cork, Pour, Vine,Java, Teas, Soda, Diet, Fizz,Cola, Coke,... oh so many more possibilities.
I prearranged the tiles on small burlap coasters I already had on hand and for a moment thought about switching to 5 letter words to use the coaster as a base, but instead I used a hard cardboard I already had on hand. ( some people use malleable cork board). Using hot glue, I attached the tiles to the cardboard.
Once the tiles have set, trim the cardboard with a exacto knife, seal with modge podge and then obviously pour yourself a glass or two. ( Or if you are like me set up your newly purchased photo area. I think I have finally settled in to becoming a blogger, a real white board and background for pictures lol. Allow your photo assistant to inspect the staging area and then start taking pics. PS My cat is not allowed on the table so I was not pleased to see this but I did already have camera in hand and she did look cute)
Do you have any quick and easy DIY;s you have been itching to try???
