Part 2 of my Thrift Store Farmhouse Swag starts now! This had been a really fun project to work on and I look forward to featuring the rest of my thrift store items throughout the week! Today I am featuring a pair of old suitcases that have been thrifted. I snatched these up a while ago but wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with them. When the answer finally came, I acted on it. White. Paint them white. Check. Add a vintage farmhouse stripe to them. Check check.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really loved the color and pattern of the original suitcases, but I just cannot sit still! I have struggled to incorporate them into my home, and my love for farmhouse style heavily influenced my decision. This was a pretty easy and straightforward project. I used my homemade chalk paint in white, and some leftover grey paint I had lying around. I promise, I have a paint store in my garage.

Once the paint had dried, I painted the grain sack stripes. I decided to draw the lines on and then freehand paint it......Somehow my painters tape came up missing. I don't know. Four kids. Stuffed animals. Stuffed animals need new outfits you know. Made out of painters tape.
I decided to leave the larger suitcase white, with no stripes. I can always go back and add some later, but I so love the clean white style of the larger suitcase!
I wasted no time incorporating them into my decor. I love love love them! I added the smaller one to my industrial pipe shelving in my family room.
Run to your local thrift store and see what you can find! I am not kidding you, I promise you can find something you would never guess would create some fantastic farmhouse swag for your home. Stay tuned for my next installment on Monday! More farmhouse goodness to come!! Thanks for stopping by! Please share, and I would love to hear from you!
