I love to do artsy-crafty things. I cannot say that I am really good at it. I could never, for instance, open an Etsy shop or something. (Although I did try once... only one person bought something from me!) But I just love the feeling of using bright colors and experimenting with different mediums... crayons, pencils, pens, gel pens, different kinds of paints, markers, oil pastels, etc.
So when I was offered the chance to try out a set of Vellostar Liquid Chalk Markers, in exchange for a review, I was excited! Unfortunately I didn't own a chalkboard... but I figured I could pick one up at the Dollar Tree.
Then my Vellostar Liquid Chalk Markers arrived in the mail. I read the box, and saw that not only could these markers be used on a chalk board, as the name implied, but could also be used on any nonporous surface... glass, metal, whiteboards, etc. That sure got my attention!
In my room at my Auntie Em and Uncle J's house, I have a closet with folding doors, and on the folding doors are top-to-bottom mirrors. Every day, same old boring mirrors. Those mirrors were just begging for me to try out my chalk markers on them!
And so, I did!
I love that the colors are really bright and vibrant... especially the red, purple and green. They almost look 3-D to me. I also love that they are really easy to clean off when I'm ready to. At first I cleaned some of it off with a wet paper towel, which worked fine, but then I found that I could also wipe it off easily with just a dry paper towel.
The colors didn't come out as easily as I thought they would. I imagined it would be sort of like paint streaming out of the markers, leaving really smooth and pure colors. But you have to put some pressure on the markers to get the colors to come out, and they do leave some streaks, so you can see where you have colored. Unlike paint, the colors don't run at all, so I didn't have to worry about dripping on the carpet or getting it all over my hands.
I just want to draw on everything now. I even decorated my fish tank for Halloween last week... and then today I cleaned it off and decorated it for Thanksgiving! My fish were stoked.
I kind of want to draw on everything now. I want to color on all of the windows in the whole house. I thought about coloring the TV screen, but then I wouldn't really be able to watch TV. I saw an Amazon review where someone colored the windows of a friend's car for their birthday. Intriguing! And of course, I could also get a chalkboard!
I'm also thinking of getting some more of these to give to some of my little cousins for Christmas. The box says they're for ages 3 and up, so if you have any crafty kids that are 3 and older, you might want to add this to their Christmas lists!
That's all I've got for now. Just wanted to make sure to share these. Now I am going to go draw some more things on my bedroom window. Goodbye!
