Hi all! Sorry I didn't post last week. Maternity leave started and I spent most of the week asleep. Baby still hasn't decided to show up, so I'll probably spend most of this week asleep too. I did finish one fun project, though: a pair of Max's Springy Ring Socks from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One. That book is seriously cool -- it includes information on eight unusual sock architectures and advice on how to design and fit socks using any of them. It also includes some great sock patterns, like this one, which uses her "cedar" architecture.
These baby socks are designed to be worn scrunched down, so they kind of look like a stacking ring toy.
But, they can also be unscrunched so they go up to baby's knees to keep the legs warm, like so.
I have a friend who is expecting a baby this winter and she cloth diapers. She likes baby leg warmers to keep the legs warm during diaper changes, and I thought these would be a fun variation on the theme. I used some of the Tosh Sock I had left from making my Sleepy Monkey blanket, which was great to work with. I did these two-at-a-time magic loop on a 40" circular needle, which I love because I am terrible at remembering to count rows in simple stitch patterns like stockinette. This way they end up identical even if I forget.
I haven't been doing much other knitting, or cooking, or anything really other than sleeping, but I hope to have a new baby to show off any minute now! In case I'm too exhausted to post though, I hope everyone who celebrates it has a happy Thanksgiving. My family is coming to join us (and meet the baby), so it should be an exciting day here!
