Are you participating in December Daily? I must admit that up until a few weeks ago I was not sure what December Daily was. However, now that I know – I’m in. All in. December Daily started as a scrapbook thing and has morphed into a smashbook, art journal, paper craft kinda thing. In a roasted chestnut shell it is documenting your December activities in a crafty way all in one book. I have been doing so much of said documenting my December Daily journal won’t even close anymore.
There is no right or wrong way to play along with December Daily. If you are a more traditional scrapper go that route. If you are a Project Life pockets kind of gal there are plenty of kits just right for you. I myself am a Smashbook kinda gal. When I grabbed my holiday Smashbook in November it was like Santa had come early. Some people do December Daily yearly and each book represents that year. Mine goes all the way back almost 40 years with pictures of me and my husband as children at Christmas.

With any craft I do I like to add a touch of nostalgia. Anyone can run off and buy the same Christmas stickers, journaling cards and patterned paper for their December Daily book. I’m not one to want my crafts to fit the traditional mold and look quite like everybody else. One way to make sure your December Daily journal is slightly different is to add vintage Christmas cards.

As a bit of an ephemera hoarder I just so happen to have several vintage holiday cards on hand. I knew immediately that they would be perfect in my December Daily journal. Some I chose to just cut the images out of the cards and add to my scrapbook, others I decided to keep in tack as a card to give my journal added dimension and layers.

Perhaps your wondering where one finds vintage greeting cards. I collect mine throughout the year at flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores and more. If you like shooting fish in a barrel then you can also go the Ebay or Etsy route. Vintage wrapping paper is another favorite of mine!

If you have a printer and are familar with The Graphics Fairy then you are also in luck. Karen has oodles of free vintage printables. They may not open and close like a real card, but they still look adorable in your December Daily journal.

Now that I have all my pictures 'smashed' inside all that is left to do is go back in and add my journaling. My December Daily journal might be my favorite scrapbook project to date. I'm going to start adding cards to all my journals. Not only do they set my journal apart, they also add extra pages for pictures!
