The “Made-By-Me Workshop, Holiday Boutique & Bake Sale, Book Fair, Hot Chocolate Bar, Holiday Extravaganza” was an event that started out as just a simple bake sale.
With so many options out there for fundraising it is often difficult to balance what might be a great, useful, or even worthy sale items vs. the “oh my gosh, they are selling more stuff!!!” items.
As the holidays approached, we knew that people’s time and wallets were maxed out. So we sat down with our fundraising committees chairs and our fabulous service leaders, and decided to “offer” (be sure to read our post, “A fundraising sale vs. an offer – what a difference a word makes” link to post) a single evening of holiday festivities – one night containing all kinds of opportunities that our community might want to participate in before the holidays.
Our service leaders had already started organizing their fabulous service project - the Made-by-Me Workshop - that we could use as the jumping off point. The evening would build off of this one event to create an entire extravaganza with something for everyone. By working with multiple committees, local vendors, service clubs, and our own community, we hosted an event that was not only profitable for our organization, but also great fun for everyone who participated.
