As a result of flipping through a crafting magazine, I decided to make a paper fan accordion style! What I like about this diy craft is that it is easily customizable in color, pattern and size! It wasn't too difficult to make, especially after making the first one. I hope you try this for your next party.
DIY Paper Fan Craft
Supplies:
- 12x12 paper, any color or pattern
- scissors & paper cutter
- bone
- scoring board *optional*
- hot glue gun
- hole punch
- ruler
- string/fishing line
Directions:
- Cut your decorative paper with these dimensions: 4 inches by 12 inches. You will need 3 of these for 1 paper fan.
- Using your scoring board or a ruler mark your paper lengthwise every 1/2 inch from one end to the other. Then accordion fold along each 1/2 line using a craft bone folder to 'seal' each fold.
- Pinching the folds together cut then ends of one end to a point. That will make it pretty and like a fan on the edges. Do this to all 3 of your decorative, custom cut papers.
- Now glue these 3 accordion folded, pointed papers to each other to connect them. For added strength when you connect them, double it over and use extra strength tape.
- Pinch the accordion folds together tightly and on the non-pointed end, apply hot glue and press it down on a glue-gun acceptable surface to seal until dried, which should be about 30 seconds.
- Lay your fan on your table and spread out so that the ends touch each other. On both ends apply tape or glue {I wouldn't suggest hot glue; it would be messy} and adhere the ends together.
