Interior Design Blog by Someone Who Isn't An Interior Designer?

Perhaps it's my age - perhaps it's the fact that I listen too much to my mom, but I'm starting to get really interested in prettifying my little room. The idea got me so worked up that I started thinking about starting a new blog about home improvement and interior design.

There is, however, one major problem: I know nothing about interior design and DIY projects!

I'm thinking of starting a blog that announces local garage sales, great finds with affordable prices, and discounts from different stores that people like me (non-designers) might miss. Good idea or bad idea?

The problem really isn't about starting the blog. I know how bloody it can get and how much work it needs, from designing the templates all the way to providing content regularly. I know I won't get overwhelmed because as is the case with anything I start, I plan to start small.

My main concern is that I'm not exactly an authority. I know nothing about split-complementary color schemes or the difference between a Victorian and a Queen Anne chair.

Is it enough to have an interest in a topic for me to start the blog, or do I need to be an expert for me to have regular readers? Can my blog survive being a "learn as you go" type of blog, or does it have to establish credibility and authority from the get-go?

I will appreciate your feedback. Thank you, fellow bloggers!
