“And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

love throwing parties. I’ve been doing it since college. Whether it is an intimate dinner, my own birthday party, a New Years Eve bash, or a backyard soiree, I genuinely love planning these types of events.

I have my mother to thank for that.

She always had her hand in some sort of event. Over the years, I have taken all that I have learned from my mother and used it to throw some great parties for our family and friends.

This weekend,  we entertained my husband’s college buddies and their wives for some holiday appetizers and cocktails. I wanted to make some new dishes, and I turned to trusty Pinterest for some ideas.

Menu for the night:

Cranberry Chipotle Meatballs– these were AMAZING! I found this recipe on Pinterest and all our guests loved them.

Spicy Spinach Artichoke Dip– this was great! I would probably make this again if I was having a party with more people, as this recipe produced A LOT of dip.

Goat Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms– these were great but I quickly found out that most people do NOT like goat cheese. (I, on the other hand, am obsessed with the stuff.)

Raspberry Brie Bites– Another favorite of mine. So easy to make.

Bruschetta – my husband’s specialty.

Chips and onion dip – a staple at any of our parties.

I also turned to Pinterest for some table decorating ideas. I used a cake stand, added some Dollar Tree cherry branches and a candle for a beautiful holiday centerpiece. I also created place cards for all of my appetizers using pinecones I bought at the Dollar Tree. (Can’t beat that store!)
