Who doesn't enjoy relaxing in a hot bath filled with bubbles and softness?
Here is a very simple method to make your own bath bombs using ingredients that most of us already have on hand.
Bath Fizz Bomb Recipe:
Dry ingredients:
- Baking Soda - 8 ounces
- Citric Acid - 4 ounces
- Corn Starch - 4 ounces
- Salts - 4 ounces
Wet Ingredients:
- Water - .75 tbsp
- Fragrance Oil - 2 tsp
- Oil - 2.5 tbsp
- Food coloring - 1 or 2 drops.
Step one: Dry ingredients
Begin by blending all the dry ingredients together in a glass bowl. Glass will be the most beneficial and will not react with the ingredients. Use a whisk to smash up all the clumps so that you end up with a very smooth consistency.
Step two: Adding the wet ingredients
Place all of your wet ingredients together into a glass jar with a tight lid. I find that shaking these ingredients together in a jar is the easiest way. It's not important to have the ingredients fully combined. Some separation will occur, this is normal.
Next, slowly add your wet ingredients into the dry ingredients while whisking. Do not add too quickly or your mixture will begin to foam. If this occurs stop pouring in the wet ingredients and continue to mix with the dry completely until it stops. After all of the ingredients have been added your mixture should feel light and slightly damp.
Putting the mixture into molds.
This step needs to be done fairly quickly. You can choose any molds you like. I prefer silicon molds because the end bomb is easy to remove, but you can choose just about any shape, size and style.
It does not take long for the bombs to dry, but wait until completely dry to remove them from the mold. If you remove them too soon they will crumble. Store them in an airtight container. These bath bombs should keep for up to six months in a container or bag.
Once you are ready, fill your bath with hot water and drop one in. Relax and enjoy ... this is the reward for your labor!
